Paula Vondrlik

Paula Vondrlik is our DAAD intern for three months from 1st June 2024. DAAD stays for Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst/German Academic Exchange Service.

Her passion for mathematics and computer science, together with her interest in education, which she displayed while volunteering as a self-defense instructor and tutor in technology workshops for children, motivated her to study Cognitive Science at the University of Osnabrück/Germany. During her bachelor's degree, which she will complete in the summer of 2024, she focused on computer science and artificial intelligence, as well as linguistics and neuroinformatics.

Paula honed her computer science skills during a one-year exchange at Bogazici University in Istanbul/Turkey. She gained previous research experience during an MITACS internship at UQAM in Montreal/Canada, where she worked on the responsible use of artificial intelligence (in particular, natural language processing) on a mental health platform.

Paula's commitment to her studies and research is unwavering. At the SBS lab, she will assist Luca Leisten with her research on social robots in education.

In her spare time, Paula plays Ultimate Frisbee and enjoys hiking.
