Dr. Gianluca Saetta

Dr. Gianluca Saetta is a postdoctoral researcher at the Professorship for Social Brain Sciences. He earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Neuropsychology at the University Hospital Zurich and conducted research during his studies at the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Utrecht.

Using virtual reality, eye-​tracking, neuromodulation, and neuroimaging techniques, Gianluca explores the neural, behavioral, and phenomenal aspects of the bodily self. A special focus of his research is on individuals with amputations, brain injuries, or who experience a mismatch between their desired and current body image.

Gianluca's research at ETH is funded by the HORIZON European Union Project “IntelliMan” grant. As part of this project, he investigates the neuropsychological and psychological factors underpinning human acceptance of newly developed Artificial Intelligence-​powered systems for use in robotics, manufacturing, and prosthetics.

In his free time, Gianluca enjoys playing the trombone, swimming, and cycling in the mountains.
