Dr. Simon Leipold

Simon Leipold is a postdoctoral researcher in the Social Brain Sciences group at ETH Zürich. His work focuses on how the human brain processes sounds, such as voices and music. He investigates how our brains extract information from sounds and how we use this information for actions like communicating with others or learning to play a musical instrument. He also explores how these processes develop in children with typical and atypical development, and how they differ in musical experts. His research at ETH is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.

Simon earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Psychology from the University of Zurich, where he also completed his PhD. Before joining ETH, he held postdoctoral positions at Stanford University in the USA and the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition, and Behavior in the Netherlands.

In his free time, Simon enjoys a variety of sports and likes watching football on TV.
