Dr. Andrea Orlandi

Dr. Andrea Orlandi is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Professorship for Social Brain Sciences. His research combines behavioral and electrophysiological methods (e.g., EEG, MEG, and ECG) to investigate how the brain represents the body and movement, with a focus on neuroaesthetics, dance expertise, interoception, and social cognition.

Andrea earned his Ph.D. in Psychology, Linguistics, and Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Milano-Bicocca (Italy) in 2019. He was awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellowship to examine how interoceptive signals shape affective and aesthetic evaluations of body and movement, in collaboration between Sapienza University of Rome (Italy) and Macquarie University (Sydney, Australia). His research has also been supported by two BIAL Foundation Research Grants (Portugal). The first examined how visuospatial features between interacting bodies shape the perception and evaluation of social interactions among humans, particularly dancers. His current project at ETH focuses on affective responses to embodied artificial agents, investigated both at the individual level and within group settings.

In his free time, Andrea enjoys visiting museums and theaters, running, and traveling.
