Jógvan Heindrikur Rógvason Djurhuus

Jógvan Heindrikur Rógvason Djurhuus is a current Social AI PhD student at the University of Glasgow. His research aim is to build AI assistive tools to help predict mental health outcomes amongst care home residents.

Having grown up in the Faroe Islands, a small country with a tight-knit community, Jógvan understands the importance of family, which in turn also played a role in determining his area of academic interest. Before joining the external external page Social AI CDT, the Centre for Doctoral Training, funded by the UKRI to train the next generation of experts in artificial social intelligence, he completed his undergraduate studies in psychology at the University of Glasgow, where he acquired a specialism in clinical health before undertaking a professional course in counselling skills, having found the field fascinating.

As Jógvan is a naturally curious person interested in helping improve people’s lives, his area of research allows him to do just that by exploring the intersection between two dynamic fields, psychology and artificial intelligence. More specifically, his project allows him to utilize his psychology background and experience working with the elderly.

In his free time, Jógvan enjoys roller-skating, boardgames, videogames, fantasy novels, and hill-walking in the beautiful Scottish Highlands.
