Amelie Voges

Amelie Voges is a doctoral student in Computing Science and Psychology at the external page Social AI CDT at the University of Glasgow since September 2022, where she is supervised by Prof. Emily Cross and Dr. Mary Ellen Foster. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a specialism in Neuroscience from the University of Glasgow, and a Master’s degree in Psychological Research from the University of Edinburgh.
Amelie’s research focuses on human-robot interactions, specifically investigating what expectations humans form about social robots based on the robots’ appearances and behaviours. She is interested in using a diverse array of both qualitative and quantitative methods to explore how robot embodiment guides user expectations, and how we can optimise the design of future robots to give out more precise and realistic cues to their affordances. The aim of her project is therefore to develop guidelines for designing robots that are more easily understood, accepted, and utilised by new users.
In her free time, Amelie is an avid reader and loves old films.
